I bought this “home theater' system because it offered 1080P upconverting for my new 1080p HDTV. I also loved the radio controlled rear speakers, making the wiring a lot less messy. I do my MP3 with my Palm pilot and a 2 gig SD card so the ipod dock stayed in the box. XM radio compatibility is great except I prefer Sirius. They are better I have subscribed to both.
I returned the unit because I wanted a home theater unit with enough flexibility to accept surround sound signals from my new HDTV and project real surround sound through those pretty little speakers.
The tech advice was to hook a stereo signal to the red and white RCA jacks using the dinosaur tool. Push the simulated surround sound button and there you have it simulated surround sound.Sorry I know the difference between rear speakers that speak only when needed and annoying background sound.
I would suggest buying the Panasonic SCPT1050 When ever it comes out. For about $100 more you will get a fiber optic in audio (capable of Dolbysurround sound transmission), and a radio controlled subwoofer so you can hide it almost anywhere. Or do as I did and buy a separate home theater audio unit with flexibility.
